Premier Teams U13-14

About this program

Eugene Metro FC seeks to provide an organized, meaningful, and exciting soccer experience for each of our premier academy age players and teams.

EMFC places a high premium on providing our youngest players with all the fundamentals in each of the soccer pillars (Physical, Technical, Tactical and Psycho-social) We want to develop confident and proactive players who enjoy a passion for the game. In addition, we believe in the core values of commitment, community and confidence.

Player Selection

There will be an annual tryout in May. Players will be selected in their birth year. The tryout is an initial selection process that coaches over the course of the season continue to ensure that players are placed in the appropriate environment for their development. In this age group we will move from an Academy based training to a team based training. Teams in this age group will play 11v11.

Program Calendar

In the summer, we will train 3 times per week in two 5 week cycles to allow for appropriate breaks in the summer. Training sessions will be two 90 minutes sessions and one 120 minutes session. We will plan for 1 summer tournament in Oregon and 1 summer tournament in Washington.

During the fall, we will train three times per week.  The season will end in mid-November. After a break, the Premier teams will move indoors for Futsal sessions in the winter to focus on technical development and free play. In late January, we resume outdoor practices, play a OYSA spring season, and then finish with Oregon State Cup in April. During the spring, we will train three times per week.

Program Objectives

The Premier Teams trains 3 times throughout the year. The coaching staff follows a progressive curriculum to provide learning opportunities and challenges for all players. The Premier program prepares players for the highest and most competitive level of play. It has a larger level of commitment to train and requires a full year commitment. Travel commitment is for 2 summer tournaments, 1 in Oregon and 1 in Washington. League play in the Fall with about 5-6 away games in the Portland area, and 4-6 away games in the Portland area in the spring.
